Interlude: Druid Hill Adventures: July 14th - Croquet Garden Party and July 28th - Passport Sundays

Croquet Garden Party

One Sunday off, the Conservatory had an even with sundresses and croquet in their garden! It was a fund raiser and I <3 the Conservatory and Druid Hill park so much! I had to go. If you're in baltimore and haven't been. GO! I discovered it by looking at google maps and seeing a big green space in the middle of Baltimore and saying "I want to go there!" and Did.

Agave about to be in bloom .. or in bloom ... they had two, one bloomed first, then the other one

inside, refreshments were provided!

Here both of the agave flower stalks can be seen! they bloom once, then die

The outside flower gardens; I learned that they were planted by local school kids after the rose gardens got to expensive to maintain! Which is awesome, roses are over rated anyway.

The outside set up, it was SO HOT

inside the conservatory. I love this plant, though I always forget it's name :(

The cool Jazz band and the festivities

croquet! long shot, didn't get any close ups for some reason (the heat addling my brain probably)

Druid Hill Green Map: Passport Sunday!
So a while ago I was part of a kickstarter to create a passport to Druid Hill Park. It was created  by friends of druid hill park and Baltimore Green Map! So I got a Green map to Druid Hill Park, and then at the Event got a passport - A little book designed to make you interact with the park and it's history! Pretty neat. The Event was a guided little tour through the park using the Passport!

These Glass Murals (six of them) depict historic Druid Hill park, which once held a flock of sheep, complete with a park shepard!

Again, blossoming Agave (both in blossom now!)

There was this awesome Sundial - you could tell what time it was in different places around the world!

butterfly!

The old concession stands when the Zoo was throughout the park, not closed off.

A recent addition of tree sculptures!
