adventure time with kristin and kirk

Last weekend I went down to Kristin's and Kirk's in Richmond! hurray! there we saw The Dark Knight Rises! yay!
 they look ... excited?

 bwahahaha the ticket.

Before hand we had stopped at Five Guys. and i got a whole bunch of greasy fries that were good but couldn't finish. and a burger, and the guy at the joint was super excited i got hot sauce on it for some reason.
The movie was pretty awesome! I don't go to movies that much, I can't even remember if I saw the other batman movies.  I enjoyed it. there's my critical review. nyeh.

The next day Kristin had a run/walk thing ... "color me rad" ... where some of the proceeds go to a local charity and they throw paint dust at you.
Here is a picture of her before, berating me and kirk for walking so slowly.

There were a lot of people there!
 all dressed in white!

 The first group starts out:

Kirk and I wandered over to the first dusting station, hoping to catch Kristin and her friend in action. here are some pics:

And finally we spot them! hurray!

keep in mind this is after the first dusting station

We wandered back to the finishing line place, where hijinks were ensuing.

And there they are!

 Hijinks i say!

All prettily colored! Kristin's armpit and side were colored blue still after the shower!

Hurray! fun! After a shower on kristin's part, and a nap on mine (day time! so hard to be awake!), we all grabbed some lunch and then kristin and I abandoned kirk and went shopping. We conveniently parked by a barnes and noble, and on the way out bought ... more books. will i ever stop!?! but i got an awesome copy of Grey's Anatomy (the book, not the TV series) that is pretty. so there! And got introduced to a new SciFi/Fantasy writer - A. Lee Martinez - and have already finished Monster. Which is a super fun book that I recommend.
That evening we went to my favorite restaurant, Havana 59

This is the mango heat martini: with jalepenos! nomnomnom

A wonderful weekend!

I do feel a bit boring though :/ I think my exhaustion is getting the better of me. This was a good break, but I also found myself more withdrawn than I normally am on a weekend off, not really finding things to say.
oh, well. life goes on. My new shoes came yesterday. woo! and trying to get the house clean before my parents come to visit ... my exciting life goes on

Conservatory at Druid Hill Park

Sunday afternoon I took a drive over to the Conservatory at Druid Hill Park and took photos of plants - something that makes me super happy and content, and don't get to do often enough. I love nature and plants. They are the prettiest. Though I totally failed plant bio the first time I took it in college, and grudgingly passed the second time ... I may think plants are awesome, but I have absolutely no interest in how they work! There was an awesome kid (11 or 12 maybe?) volunteering there who enthusiastically told me the history of the place and showed me the papaya and pineapple plants. And then I fed my plant addiction and bought three plants!
Now follows a long post of pictures :) you are warned.
